I took this photo in my hometown called Liepaja. This a small city in Latvia. Photo was taken in Karosta district near the Baltic sea. Karosta was constructed in 1890-1906 as a naval base for the Russian Tsar Alexander III, and later served as a base for the Soviet Baltic Fleet. Now this place is very popular for urban photographers.Time
This photo was taken in the beginning of March and there was a wind about 25 meters per second. It was about 7 PM. So it was really cold. I took some pictures of my mother during 15-20 minutes. After that we came home to drink hot tea.Lighting
It was about 7 PM , so it was getting darker and darker every minutes. I have to act and think very quickly. I took some pictures without this flying umbrella and I understood that composition is very simple. So I tried to make this picture look more surrealistic. But it was really hard to catch the umbrella in good position. My sister`s husband threw it for several times until I got a photo as I wanted.Equipment
I used my old friend Canon 5d (first version) with fantastic 135mm L lens. I used my hands also for a little bit ))Inspiration
Unfortunately, I am visiting my mother rarely as we live in the different cities. So I had an idea in my head to capture my mother doing her favorite thing (knitting) in my favorite place (Baltic sea) to have a picture of mother and sea on my walls in Riga ( city where I live now). I tried to make this picture with a little twist, because I wanted it to be interesting for another people too.Editing
Yeah... I made a crop from both side and convert it black and whiteIn my camera bag
The first thing that I always have in my bag is my Canon 5d. Actually the word "thing" is not correct one. This is my friend. I am not joking )) I love him very much. I also have 3 lenses - 35mm L, 135mm L, EF 85 1.8. I also have some filters (ND, UV, macro). Sometimes I have also tripod and flash, but I took them only when I know that I need them.Feedback
Don`t try to do something like this. Serious. This is my photo :) Of course, it is a joke. I think it is not very helpful to give any advice about photography. Just do it! Practice, practice and one more time... practice! And of course you should enjoy every second with your camera in hands.
