It is an amazing shot. Could you give a few tips about how you took it ? Did you use stacking or is it one shot (post processed)?

Behind The Lens

Location

In Chiricahua National Monument. This amazing place is well known for it's incredible rock formations, known as hoodoos. These hoodoos are formed by wind and water erosion. Chiricahua National Monument is located in southeastern Arizona near the small town of Willcox.

Time

This particular shot was taken at about midnight.

Lighting

I used a flashlight to light up the foreground, using basic light painting techniques.

Equipment

Nikon D600, Rokinon 14mm 2.8, Tripod

Inspiration

I love the night sky. Blending the beautiful and strange rock formations with the amazing Milky Way as it rises in the middle of the night just came natural.

Editing

Night photography always requires a little extra post-processing, mainly in the form of noise reduction. In order to get the stars to stand out, a very high ISO is used. This in turn requires some noise reduction. I also sharpened the image and added some contrast.

In my camera bag

Nikon D600, Nikon D750, Rokinon 14mm 2.8, Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR, Tokina 16-28mm 2.8, Nikkor 50mm 1.4, Nikkor 24mm 2.8, Nikkor 35-70 2.8, an array of ND and Circular Polarizer filters, extra batteries, battery grip, flashlights, trash bags and poncho (in case of rain), lightning trigger, cable release.

Feedback

Fast wide angle lenses, a solid tripod, and a camera that can handle high ISOs in excess of 3200 are necessary.
