Grand Jury Winner

"While the presence of the Milky Way in this image might be the first thing that grabs your attention, it was the subtle elements that caught my eye most. The blue glow of the water and reflection of the stars in the foreground helped balance the strongest element, the Milky Way. I was also happy to see that the Milky Way was not greatly distorted in this image, which is quite common for these types of photos. All that aside I also just enjoyed the broader composition and serene subject. Congrats!" - Jim Goldstein

Amateur Winner

"Beautiful exposure. The colors are particularly attractive, both the green/blue of the water in the foreground and purple/red of the sky. The subtlety of the stars is quite nice and well balance with your foreground. Great job with your depth of field." - Jim Goldstein

Runner Up

"Stunning landscape and exposure. A lot of care was given to getting the photo, but be sure that your image is properly cropped to avoid some of the white background bleed (bottom of the image file) from your post-processing. Also do take some time to give your photo a title versus the image file name. Everything else about the image is top notch." - Jim Goldstein

Runner Up

"Great foreground subject and well exposed night sky. A fun and eerie combination of subjects. While it's not specific to the quality of the image do take some time to give your photo a title versus the image file name." - Jim Goldstein

Runner Up

"Great location and use of the water to reflect the stars. The foreground is nicely broken by the rocks in the lake as is the horizon by the peaks. Looks like this was a wonderful hike well worth waiting for the Milky Way to come out after a bit of a wait." - Jim Goldstein
