Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside in my backyard. I am a self taught photographer and enjoy capturing people’s natural expressions using natural light.

Time

Late afternoon when the sun was starting to go down creating a nice shady place to capture this beautiful natural lit portrait

Lighting

I love using natural light especially for capturing candid portraits. I recommend waiting for the sun to go down and find a shady spot to make it easier to capture great candid portraits

Equipment

Canon 7D with 50 mm lens

Inspiration

I’m always inspired by people and faces and love getting real, natural facial expressions in a moment. While seeing all his adorable expressions, I was inspired to try and capture one of him in an authentic moment.

Have fun while photographing children’s portraits and try to capture them when they aren’t aware of you taking their photo to get different expressions you wouldn’t get if they were posed
