Location
This was taken from a hot air balloon over the Dubai desert.Time
We took off before the sun came up, so this was very early in the morning. Because the sun is low, it makes for great shadows and contrast.Lighting
The sunrise golden hour is always the best time to shoot!Equipment
This was taken hand held using a Canon T5i with a 28-200 Canon zoom lens.Inspiration
I went up the the balloon specifically to take photographs. It was also my first time, so I was a little apprehensive at first, but I had no trouble once we took off. I felt very safe. It was more like the ground left me rather than me leaving the ground. This is one of many pictures. I like this one because you can see the curvature of the earth and the dunes seem to go on forever.Editing
Not much post processing done, just an auto adjust and some sharpening. In my camera bag
I now have a Canon 6D2 with a Canon 18-135 and a Canon 70-300 lens. I also have a Canon T2i converted to infrared.Feedback
Don't be afraid to try new angles and new ways to get some great shots. This was such a memorable experience for me, I am so glad I decided to do it (even with getting up at 2:30 in the morning!) I did not go with anyone else that I knew, but had no issues whatsoever. This was not my first experience shooting sand dunes, but it was my first from doing it above the desert.
