This image has a really beautiful texture to it that gives it the quality of an impressionistic painting to me. The dusting of snow and the limited color palette make a really wonderful image. Nice work!

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken many years ago near Pueblo Colorado

Time

To be honest, I don't remember it was taken so long ago! Judging by the shadows mid afternoon?

Lighting

It was overcast with occasional snow flurries, you can see the snow in the mountains in the background

Equipment

This was taken with an old Panasonic DMC-ZS6 point and shoot

Inspiration

I was camping and exploring the area, the lanscape was something different, we don't get a lot of snow in North Texas!

Editing

This one is straight out of the camera - it's not very high res and shot in JPG so there's not a lot of info to work with

In my camera bag

These days I normally carry a Canon 80D with a Sigma 18/300mm mounted, and a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses, ranging from a 8mm diagonal fisheye to a Sigma 200-500mm telephoto depending on what I'll be shooting. I'f I'm going light I'll carry an M50 with smaller/lighter lens. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling; I often don't get to plan shots beforehand - I'm a pretty impromptu/opportunistic photographer, but I will throw tripods and remotes in the car 'just in case'. I've found I spend the most time with various prime lenses and the 18-300mm Sigma though, the Sigma's range lets you capture almost anything on the fly and reduces the need for lens changes out in the open.

Feedback

Apply proper composition techniques and you can shoot decent pictures with almost anything, including a 10+ year old point and shoot camera!
