Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Monument Valley National Park, USA

Time

This photo was taken before sunrise

Lighting

The light was beautiful that morning with red clouds illuminated by the rising sun. The red clouds matched the red canyons. Spectacular sight!

Equipment

I used my Sony A7RII with Sony Zeiss 16-35 f/4 for this shot.

Inspiration

I had seen many shots from this location but I wanted to do it slightly different by including foreground objects.

Editing

The scene was not altered. I of course enhanced the tones and colors a bit to give it a bit more punch.

In my camera bag

When I travel I normally bring my Sony bodies (A7R2, A7II), Sony Zeiss 16-35 f/4, Sony Zeiss 55 1.8, Sony 70-300 and a wideangle like the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 or the Samyang 12mm F2.8 fisheye. Other than that I bring a bunch of filters and the usual accessories.

Feedback

Get up early, check the weather carefully and hope for the best. Always look for foreground objects to give your shots extra depth. Composition and light are important so make sure they're both top notch :)
