Location
Photographed at Yosemite National Park in California from Cook's Meadow trail.Time
Captured in the late afternoon in July. The clouds made a wonderful impact for this photograph creating defined shadow on the Half Dome.Lighting
The angle is unique; I haven't seen this angle before in other photographs featuring Yosemite's Half Dome. Walking the trail in Cook's Meadow gave this photograph a nice perspective with the framing of the trees. This is my favorite photograph of all that I took at this park with the appearance of the mountain having a misty feel, hence, the title of this image.Equipment
I used my Canon xsi with my favorite lens for landscape photographs, 18-55mm.Inspiration
My husband and I were on vacation traveling from Missouri to the West Coast. We hit a lot of great spots for some amazing photographs, some of which are now on display at Mosaic Life Care (care of Albrecht Kemper Art Museum) in St. Joseph, Missouri until the end of September, 2016. I am working on selecting more photographs for the chance to hang for the next round of the MLC Juried Art Exhibit.Editing
I did perform an increase of contrast of the image in post production to allow the clouds and tiny trees on the Half Dome to become more defined. In my camera bag
I carry my Canon 70d; xsi; lenses 18-55mm; 75-300 and two ttl's.Feedback
While photographing this image I was paying attention to the foreground; wanting the trees to "frame" the mountain. My suggestion would only be to change your angle often, pay attention to your surroundings, which can be difficult when there is so much beauty in Yosemite and other parks in the U.S. Create a foreground in contrast to the subject.
