It's a good shot, but time of day? Heavy shadows, try ,MORNING or late afternoon. But, yes, I know it's when you are there right? I am sure you know all this already. We were there on A CLOUDY COLD DAY LAST DEC.We went to new Mexico for first time.

Thank you. As you say, it's when you're there: Taming the shadows is why I took an HDR combo shot on this one. I have other shots where I went for more of an HDR look, I tried not to go overboard on this one.

Location
This is the famous Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo Texas, along what was part of the storied Route 66Time
Well... I alway end up in Amarillo either at the beginning or end of an adventure, it's a good place to stay the night a reasonable distance from my home in Dallas, so all of my shots are either in the morning or evening! I honestly don't remember which trip I was on when this was shot, but judging by the shadows this was taken late afternoon... ;-)Lighting
This was taken on a cloudless day in Texas, so light would have been pretty harsh with a serious contrast between shadow and lightEquipment
This was taken with a Canon 5D mkIII and Canon 16-35mm F2.8L lens. I honestly don't remember if I drug a tripod out there on this trip or not, sorry!Inspiration
Cadillac Ranch is so iconic I try to stop and experiment with doing something different (or play with a new lens) any time I pass by. If I'm traveling with someone that hasn't been there before it's always one of the the places on their bucket list anyway :-)Editing
This is an HDR shot combined from 3 different exposures - with the sun at that angle and intensity the interior of the cars would have been completely lost in shadow without a bit of trickery...In my camera bag
These days my 'walk about' setup is a Canon RP Mirrorless with a 24-240mm lens, but I'll also carry a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses if I'm looking to shoot something specific. I do have a couple of crop sensor bodies if I want a bit more reach, the extra magnification from the 1.6 crop factor helps there. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling, so I often don't plan shots beforehand - I'm a pretty impromptu/opportunistic photographer. I've found I spend the most time with various prime lenses or some sort of super-zoom so I don't have to changes lenses out in the open.Feedback
Don't forget to re-visit places you've shot in the past; lighting changes along with other minutia, things will be different each time and hopefully you'll have learned to tricks to try out!
