Actually, this is a long exposure of 2 seconds. The ice forms on the dangling limbs as the near freezing water rushes by. The air temperature on this day never got above 22° F. This small creek (Mill Creek) is one of the headwaters for the Tye River which is about 9 miles upstream of the Appalachian Trail crossing
