Location
This image was taken at White Sands National Monument in southern New Mexico.Time
This image was taken early morning, shortly after sunrise/Lighting
The early morning fog provided a perfectly diffused light.Equipment
Canon SX710 HSInspiration
My wife and I are early risers, and we love to arrive at areas like this before the crowds. In this case we were the first ones through the gate when it opened (and we were somewhat off season so crowds were very low anyway.) As we were driving through the fog my wife noticed the beautiful light and slight rainbow caused by the fog on this roadside Yucca.Editing
Minimal post processing, a little contrast adjustment to reduce the fog slightly. In my camera bag
My main camera is a Nikon D5100, usually used with a Tamron 150-600 mm lens. For hiking and close shots, rather than change lenses, I use the compact Canon. Unfortunately, this camera took a suicide dive out of a kayak into a river since this image was taken and has been replaced by a Canon SX540 HS.Feedback
Keep your eyes open when travelling and always listen to your significant other, lol. Take advantage of early morning light (and fog).
