This image was taken at Sheridan Glacier, near Cordova, Alaska, in 2014. It is a most beautiful and serene setting, and while enjoying a bit of meditation at the site with my wife and dog, I made the decision to fully retire, called my office and told them I would not be coming back. (I was very surprised to have cell coverage, and I actually did go back for a few months to tie things up). I returned to the glacier this year while visiting my stepson and granddaughter in Cordova and spent much more time there, and while still absolutely gorgeous, it is sadly melting at an alarming rate. I will be posting some new images of Sheridan Glacier on my gallery as soon as I can get through the 5K images taken in Alaska this summer.Time
This was taken mid morning. I have revisited this place at different times and find it just as beautiful at every time of day.Lighting
There were mixed sun and clouds. I find with glacier images that is often better than full sun as the ice reflects so much light.Equipment
This was taken with a Nikon D5100 and a 70-300mm lens, no other special equipment.Inspiration
I love being close to glaciers and have since had the opportunity to hike near and on several in Alaska. The lighting is spectacular, the reflections awesome and the blue of the ice is amazing!Editing

Nikon D5100 with Nikon 18-55 mm, Nikon 70-300mm, and Tamron 150-600mm lenses, a macro lens and a few filters, spare batteries and SD cards, and a Canon SX710 HS for when I don't want to carry all that weight. . .that is about it.Feedback
I like to spend a lot of time in a place, being quiet, hiking and observing, takiing lots of images. While that is not always possible, it has been that way with Sheridan Glacier. On my most recent trip there my stepson took us on a 4 wheeler to the other side of this glacier for some different perspectives.
