I went to Glacial Park again and was disappointed that there were so many fewer nesting birds this year. The water is higher in the Marsh which may have had something to do with it. I decided to set up my equipment and stay for awhile. Within a few minutes, I spotted a Wood Duck landing in the Marsh. I have tried for years to find one to photograph and I was so excited. After a short time, the Wood Duck took off and I figured that I was done when I spotted him up in a tree! I have never seen a duck in a tree and was happy to capture him. A little while later the female joined him up in the tree.

Glad you finally got your Wood Duck. It's quite common for them to roost in trees. At Burnaby lake, you can sometimes find half a dozen in a tree greeting the passers-by.
