Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my garage.

Time

4:56 pm.

Lighting

I had the garage door open to use the natural light from the outside.

Equipment

Table, black cloth, vase, Gerber Daisies and water spray bottle were used to set up the photo. I shot the photo with my Nikon D300 camera and my Nikon 105mm 2.8 lens. I used my RRS tripod and my remote shutter release.

Inspiration

Gerber daisies are my favorite flowers. I bought a bunch of them and arranged them in a variety of ways in a short vase to keep the vase out of the photo. This was my favorite shot because of the angle of the stems. I loved combining the different colors.

Editing

I lowered the black slider to make the background darker. I also sharpened the photo some. These changes were done in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

My Nikon camera, Nikon lenses including a 12-24mm, an 18-300mm, a 70-200mm, an 80-400mm, a 50mm and a fisheye lens, extra cards and battery and my remote shutter release..

Feedback

The best pictures happen when I use natural light, a tripod and a remote shutter release. Be creative and try different combinations.
