Lioness in the early morning, Tsavo East. Tsavo East was home to the legendary 'Man Eaters of Tsavo'. Two maneless lions that brought the building of the Mombasa-Nairobi railway line to a halt for 9 months in 1898 as the went on the rampage killing and consuming over 100 workers. It's thought that they had brittle teeth due to a genetic mineral deficiency and as such could not hunt their natural prey.
