This image of the Milky Way was made in what is known as the" White Place" in New Mexico. Georgia O'keeffe resided in this area of New Mexico.
This area is also where the movie "The Magnificent 7" was photographed.

I made this photograph right after a rain storm. The clearing storm provided the additional drama to the photograph.

Behind The Lens

Location
This image of the Milky Way was made in what is known as the" White Place" in New Mexico. Georgia O'keeffe resided in this area of New Mexico. This area is also where the movie "The Magnificent 7" was photographed.
Time
This was made around nautical twilight.
Lighting
I made this photograph right after a rain storm. The clearing storm,lighting, back light from Alamogordo, New Mexico, provided the additional drama to the photograph.
Equipment
Nikon D810, 18-24nikkor, gitzo tripod with a 3 way head.
Inspiration
I was soaking wet after the rain storm, but the clearing sky, the white place's landscape was captivating and mesmerizing especially during the dusk to night transition.
Editing
I did some in Lightroom, and some in Photoshop. West Coast Imaging made some prints for me that are absolutely breath-taking. The photographs are in the process of being framed.
In my camera bag
I usually travel with a 4x5 modified wista view camera, a 6x7 Pentax, and the Nikon D810. Headlamp, flashlight, a variety of lenses, my pentax digital zone 6 spot meter. Peanut butter sandwiches, and of course coffee.
