One of series of posters I’m working on featuring scenic shots of some of America’s favorite small harbors.

This shot has a little story: My wife and I escaped up to Maine a few years ago at the end of the summer. Actually a long Labor Day weekend. We like to camp, and this trip we stayed at the state park in Camden.
Camden is quaint and beautiful – quintessential Maine coast… And very photogenic at any time of year… Some of the trees even start turning by early September.

But what we didn’t know was: that Labor Day weekend coincides with the annual Camden Windjammer Festival. We knew that Camden was homeport to several large sailing ships that take cruises and charters. But what we didn’t know was that every year there is a big bash to celebrate these beautiful historic vessels. They come from up and down the coast, and come together for a fun weekend at port. It’s a great fun weekend with many events. And a fantastic opportunity for any photographer that loves the sea and things nautical… We’re heading up again this year, and stretching the weekend into a full week!.
