The mill was built around 1810 for the purpose of processing wool, but also used for other purposes over the years (and various owners)… It was really not much of a success. But, because of it’s history (and iconic local image), it has become a very nice local museum officially called The Red Mill Museum Village, with over 40,000 local artifacts with educational exhibits and special events.
It’s location is in the village of Clinton, NJ, along the confluence of the South Branch of the Raritan River and where Spuce Run comes down from the reservoir. My vantage point here is from a small public-park area. You can walk right down to the water too, assuming it’s shallow, as it in the fall (great for fishing)… There is a bridge (to the left, just off the image) if you want to try different vantage points.
