Location
This picture was taken at a waterhole in Amboseli, Kenya during a photo workshop.Time
It was early in the morning and we watched different animals coming to the waterhole. The giraffes were very shy , but the zebras did not mind our presence.Lighting
At ISO 400 I took this photo at a shutter speed of 1/500 sec and an aperture of f/7.1. The light was beautiful in the morning with the reddish ground due to the high iron content.Equipment
I used a Nikon 800 with a sigma lens ( 80- 400 mm) , no tripod.Inspiration
Well, Amboseli is one of my most favorite places in the world. To wake up in the morning in a tent in the Selenkay conservancy and listen to the sounds of the wilderness and leave early with my Massai friends to explore the area is just wonderful. Every day is different, every day you can see different animals. It is happiness.Editing
I processed the photo in lightroom. In my camera bag
I am a Nikon person, I carry a D800 or a D4, sometime both of them. My favorite lens is the Nikon 600mm lens. When I go for a walk in the summer, I always carry a macro lens.Feedback
Go to places that you love. One takes only good pictures of things that one can relate to and likes. When I travel it takes me sometimes a day or two, before I can start taking photos. Sometimes I have to return places again and again, before I really see, what I need to see in order to take a good photo.
