Behind The Lens
Location
The house in the background is our home. I stood across the street while the kids rode back and forth trying to capture a clear shot of them with the blur effect. This was the first time I had achieved the correct time movement in this type of photography. My previous attempts were unsuccessful. I now understand the concept and how to concentrate on the subject.Time
This was in the afternoon with cloudy skies and sprinkles. I was carrying an umbrella to keep the camera from getting wet.Lighting
There is no flash or special lighting in this photograph; only available, natural lighting.Equipment
I used my Canon xsi and my favorite lens; the 18-55mm.Inspiration
The kids got the ol' two seater out of the shed and rode around town and when they returned I had camera in hand and made them ride back and forth until I thought I got the shot that I needed. I tried different angles and it seemed that when they were straight ahead and even distance from me the image became what I imagined.Editing
I did a tiny bit of processing by enhancing the colors a little bit and sharpening up the tires for more contrast.In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon xsi and 70d along with lenses 18-55mm and 75-300mm and a couple ttl's just in case and some filters.Feedback
My advice...just try it. Even if the kids say "Not again!" ask nicely for them to continue a time or two more. I think that finding the proper distance from the subject is a key point and also the distance from the subject to the background is also important. The only way to learn is to try:)
