Was this a composite or was there enough light available to produce this after only 10seconds @ f2.8 & ISO 800?

Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken in northern Norway. We were based in Tromsö. We discovered the Islands nearby, looking out for locations with great landscapes and no light pollution.Every evening we hunted the aurora with our rental car, hoping, that we will be successful on our favorite spots. This shot was taken neaby Tromvik.
Time
01:30 in the night
Lighting
We choose a week with full moon. Without moonlight, you could not see the landscape with the snowy mountains so clearly. The aurora appears not so brightful as without moonlight, but that´s OK for me.
Equipment
Nikon D4, 14-24 2,8, Tripod, Remote control 14mm, f2,8, 10sec., ISO 800, -2/3 EV
Inspiration
I want to show the aurora combinied with the beautiful landscape in northern norway during wintertime. We were lucky we get a "corona" of the Aurora, that means, it´s just above you.
Editing
Thre is no cropping in this photo. The capture out of cam leans to red. So I set a White point on the snow.
In my camera bag
My Aurora hunting Equipment: D4, D800, 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, Tripod, Remote Control.
Feedback
As low ISO as possible (Noise) As short exposure time as possible (Stars, structure of the aurora) Stop down as much as needed (If you have somthing in the foreground) Focus on the moon All manual (focus, lightning) when you´re planing a trip, watch the the moon-phase Discover your surrondings during daylight for nice locations. Avoid light pollution Drive, drive, drive. Not for nothing it was called "Hunting the aurora"! Look at the local weatherforcast! If it´s cloudy, you can´t see the aurora. Look at the aurora forecast, sometimes it´s stronger, sometimes there is no activity. Warm clothing! Too little sleep... Or will you miss an aurora-eruption at night? Look for interrestig foregrounds. Trees, landscapes, ice, rocks, reflections ans so on. Never give up! When you see your first Auroa, you will be adicted. I traveled to northern Norway( for a week in Februaray) four years in a row - and no end in sight... :-)
