Location
I live in a polder landscape in the North of Holland without big forests. This photo was taken in a small cultivated "forest" near my hometown where detail photos are the best choice.Time
It was at the end of a summers day, about 5 pm.Lighting
In a forest light is wonderfully fitered by the trees. A nice light fell over this feather in between the luscious green moss. The kind of small detail in a forest that seems to be overlooked by most but the filtered light of the trees offer you a great opportunity to take great photos and especially macros, with the most fantstic light! Warm colors, great details and no heavy shadows or big burned out light spots...Equipment
I took this photo with my wonderful Lumix DMC-TZ60, a great small camera with a Leica lens, easy to carry with you and with lots of possibilities, manual as well as intelligent automatic. I didn't use any extra equipment.Inspiration
After a long days work I wanted to relax and take some photos in a park nearby my workshop. It's a nice park but unfortunately a bit young to take a nice photo. Many paths, benches and disposel bins... I like to take photos without these distractions. So I went down on my knees looking for the small wonders you can find everywere, and I did. I found this wonderfull wet feather on a patch of beautiful fresh green moss. The whole park in a nutshell!Editing
This was a natural shot, no post-processing was done, I only cropped the photo. I allways shoot a wider shot, to have a wider range of sharpness. In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand photography first...Feedback
A photo like this is quite easy to take, as I explained before the light in a forest is ideal for close ups and macros because the trees filter the light wonderfully. No heavy shadows or burned out light spots. Avoid distracting items in your composition, if necessary remove small twigs or other unwanted things and think about the composition you want to create before you start to shoot. If you take a wider shot, you can crop it later into the fine composition you wanted to achieve, once you get home. make several croppings and choose the best one the following day when you can have a fresh look at them!
