Stunning capture - Voted in Snowcap challenge. Love the colors in contrast with the snow. The reflections are perfect.

Location
I took this shot on the shores of Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. There are plenty of hiking trails that go all around that area!Time
This shot was taken around sunset. We were fortunate enough to arrive as a small thunderstorm was rolling in, so the photographic potential there was outstanding.Lighting
The lighting at sunset was spectacular; the low-hanging thunder clouds combined with the side lighting from the sun's last rays created a glowing effect on the mountains and a great brooding background.Equipment
This was a long exposure using my Canon 40D and a tripod, with a Tamron AF 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 lens.Inspiration
Again, the lighting that evening was breath-taking, and that combined with the gorgeous scenery led to many hours of walking around taking shots of the lake from all angles. This one was my favorite!Editing
I did plenty of post-processing in Adobe Photoshop Elements; the specific tweaks I made escape me at the moment, but there were many! It definitely helps having the RAW file to work with!In my camera bag
Typically I will carry around a wide-angle lens, an everyday lens, and plenty of spare batteries and filters. I typically only bring a solid tripod if I am specifically intending to do a long exposure session.Feedback
Moraine Lake (and the Canadian Rockies in general) is an incredibly popular photo spot! Try to capture something unique that highlights the experience of being there. I found the kaleidoscope of colors on the canoes (and the contrast between the stationary ones on the dock and the moving ones in the water) to be very appealing, so I spent a half hour taking photo after photo. Patience is key!
