This is a great image. The spectacular scenery of course helps, but your composition choice really makes it stand apart from 'other' mountain shots. Very well done!

I love tent shots, reminds me of hiking into a spot at night and opening the tent door first thing in the morning.

I’d sell one of my kids to be where this was taken and see it! Great shot.

:) I think the permit to go hike to Berg Lake (and camp here at the Emperor Falls campsite) only costs around $30.

Love the framing the tent entrance gives to the main element of the mountain. Very good photo

Location
This photo of Mount Robson was taken from inside my tent (obviously!) at a campsite nestled between the Berg Lake Trail and Robson River. We were excited to make it up to Berg Lake in one day, but we had to stop for the night here!Time
I snapped this shot just around dawn after a LONG evening of hiking the previous day. We were exhausted, so we slept in. Oops! If the timing hadn't been just right (around 7:00am, if I recall), I wouldn't have been able to capture this mist-shrouded view of the highest point in the Canadian Rockies!Lighting
The sun had already risen, as far as the mountain peak was concerned! Our camp was still in the blueness of pre-dawn, and I feel like the cloudy mist in between us and Mount Robson was a perfect division; without the lightly sun-lit mist, this would have been a very different photo.Equipment
Believe it or not, this was taken with a Canon S95, one of their previous point-and-shoot models. I really enjoy bringing capable cameras that fit in my pocket along with my digital SLR, so that I can capture everything, however, spontaneous, without setting up all my gear each time!Inspiration
I have to say that the inspiration for this shot came entirely from my wife (Find her on Instagram! @carrieoutdoors). She was still groggy as we were waking up, and she mentioned to me something along the lines of "Hey, that tent view looks like some of those photos on Instagram." I quickly retrieved my camera, snapped a bunch of shots, and the rest, as they say, is history.Editing
Yes, I did some post-processing. A lot of people ask me how the mountain in the background can possibly appear so crisp when the tent is also in sharp focus. I used a selective brush tool in Lightroom to add some contrast and clarity there. Additionally, I lightened up the walls of the tent a bit to show more detail there. In my camera bag
My bag typically contains: Camera body, wide angle lens, telephoto lens, night lens (wide angle, low f-stop), spare batteries, tripod, remote shutter release, 10-stop neutral density filter, and a handful of graduated neutral density filters. I find that with this set of equipment, I can capture most of the images I can think of. Lately I've been bringing along additional LED lighting and a fog filter for more creative night shots.Feedback
Advice for others trying to capture something similar to this? Make sure you're in great physical condition for a hike like the Berg Lake Trail, and be sure to bring a water filter! I found out about halfway up that I forgot ours in the car... I had to swallow my pride and walk around a campsite asking other campers if I could borrow theirs! Needless to say, lesson learned.
