I captured this image in my home studio in St. Louis, Missouri.Time
I captured this image at night.Lighting
This was my first time setting up studio lighting. I had a seasoned professional photographer show me how to light the models. I typically don't take photos of people as I am a landscape photographer, but jumped at the opportunity to learn new lighting techniques.Equipment
I used a SLIK tripod and Canon EOS rebel, with no flash.Inspiration
I hired a couple of models and they were my inspiration. I usually don't like to take photos of people, but these two professional models were very easy to work with. They were both relaxed and I didn't give them any direction, but instead let them do poses that appealed to them.Editing
This one is straight out of the camera. In my camera bag
I always have a tripod and lens paper. I have a tendency to abuse my camera, so lens paper is always a must. I find myself in dusty old buildings alot.Feedback
My advice for first timers trying to capture an image like this is to find a mentor and have them show you how to light people. It really is an art form.
