Excellent Picture. I only wish that building was not cut-off in the reflection captured so well.

Behind The Lens

Location
I captured this image just below Congress bridge in Austin, TX. Every evening tourist line up on top of the bridge to watch over 1 million bats fly out from under the bridge at dusk. I couldn't figure out why folks were are gathered and crowded on top of the bridge and so few people were under the bridge until the bats started flying. Wish I would have had an umbrella.
Time
I captured this image at dusk.
Lighting
I love capturing images in the early morning and at dusk. The warm tones of evening hours add such a lovely mood to photographs.
Equipment
I used a Canon EOS and a SLIK tripod. I captured 3 images, one over exposed, one properly exposed and another image underexposed and these 3 images were merged together using Photomatix HDR programing.
Inspiration
Watching 1 million bats fly out from under a bridge is an inspiration. The beautiful Austin skyline added to the mood.
Editing
I used Photomatix HDR for post processing merging three images together. I like Photomatix because it's quick and easy to use and doesn't have a steep learning curve.
In my camera bag
I always carry a tripod, lens paper and a flashlight.
Feedback
If you want to capture an image in low light, I suggest using a tripod and a timed exposure. Be sure to bracket your photos so you have plenty of exposures to chose from during post production.
