Patrick's Point is a special place. With the surf and the rocks and seastacks, it's a great place for long exposure photography, especially in the winter when the surfs up and maybe there's clouds in the sky.Editing

For shooting long exposure shots with a very dark ND filter, it helps to use an older manual focus lens with dampened focus ring and hyper focal scales. One of the trickiest aspects of shooting with very dark ND filters is, that once the filter is on, you can't focus the lens because the viewfinder (and liveview) for that matter are too dark. The lens has to be focused ahead of time, and the filter put on the lens without budging the lens out of the optimal focus zone. A lens with a dampened focus ring will stay put as you screw the ND filter on; and a lens with hyperfocal markings can be focused without looking through a viewfinder.
