Grand Tetons National Park, in western Wyoming — more specifically, Oxbow Bend.

Time

Morning, just after sunrise.

Lighting

This is magic hour light, combined with clouds. For landscapes, this is usually the very best light.

Pentax K-5, Pentax FA 24-90 f3.5-4.5 lens, Feisol tripod

Inspiration

I wanted to make my own version of this iconic shot.

Editing

Just exposure tweaks.

Feedback

It sometimes helps to be aware of how the lenses one uses capture color. Different lenses can exhibit subtle yet appreciable differences in how they render the various tones of the color spectrum. For this shot, I purposely selected a lens that I found rendered blue and green tones quite exquisitely, and a bit different from just about any other lens I was familiar with.
