Location
I took this image whilst visiting family in France.Time
I think the time of day was about 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon.Lighting
It was an overcast day, so very diffused natural light. Not too sunny, so no harsh shadows.Equipment
I shot this image using my trusty Canon 7D with a Sigma 18-250 f3.5-6.3 DC OS lens. The shutter speed I used was 1/160 so there is still a slight bit of motion on the back legs of the second horse, but still sharp at the front of the first horse.Inspiration
I was out taking photo's of random things around the family farm, and spent about half an hour in the field with the horses, just snapping away without a care in the world. The horses tend to stick together and every so often they have a burst of energy and have a run around. I think I must have fired off about 20 or so frames in order to capture them, but this is the one with the composition which I liked the best.Editing
I shot on RAW, so I added a little clarity, then used layers within photoshop to create the monochrome version of the image. In my camera bag
Canon 7D, Sigma 18-250 f3.5 - 6.3 DC OS, Canon 50mm 1.8, Sigma 10-20 3.5 so that I have all the focal ranges covered and the nifty fifty as this is an amazing lens. Also 2 flash guns and wireless triggers.Feedback
The advice I would give is to be patient and don't look for the shot, let it happen. Sometimes some of the best images are created by just enjoying getting out there with your camera and seeing what happens in whatever environment you're in.
