Location
This photo was taken at the Maritime Museum of l'Islet, a small town along the St.Lawrence River, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. A pretty municipality located between river and mountains (the Appalachians).Time
This is the time of the day when the sun is setting behind the other mountain range, on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, the Laurentians.Lighting
As you can see in the photo, I had the sun in front, on a day without clouds. So the light was very dazzling. I combined the technique of exposure blending with focus stacking. I combined three series (three different focal points) of five photos (exposure blending) to create this image. For the technique of exposure blending, I concentrated on preserving the highlights, so that I took three underexposed images, one image with a normal exposure and a last image slightly overexposed.Equipment
This photo was taken with my new Sony 14mm F1.8 GM lens and my Sony A7RII camera. It was obviously taken on a tripod with my FLM ballhead. No lens filter has been used, since this wide angle lens does not allow to use one.Inspiration
I had seen images of the museum in the late winter of 2023 and I thought then that it was an interesting place to take some pictures. The day this photo was taken was ideal to go to l'Islet. It takes an hour to drive there from my home.Editing
The fifteen images were first processed in the RAW developer to correct the verticals and to received a few adjustments, then the five images of each series combined in Photoshop to blend exposures and the three resulting images were also combined in Photoshop to blend focal points. The final image received various adjustments as a last step.In my camera bag
