Behind The Lens
Location
From a new urban park in the Old port area, called “Place des canotiers”.Time
This is a composite image, merging several photos taken over a long period of time: from a bit before golden hour up to full darkness. The images were taken on a tripod, at an interval of around 30 minutes, for a total of 8 or 9 images, I can't say for sure now.Lighting
Only to say that I used a graduated ND filter for the photos taken at sunset.Equipment
Camera used: Sony a7R II Lens: Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 55 mm F1.8 Tripod, FLM ballhead, Singh Ray ND filter, remote shutter release.Inspiration
I wanted to experiment an idea I had a few days before, which was to take several photos from full sunlight to full darkness and try to mix the different lights into a single image.Editing
I used Photoshop to put each image on its layer and using luminosity masks, I tried to mix the lights in a natural way. It took several hours of trial and error to get the image you see.In my camera bag
Same as mentioned above, plus a Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 with the Sigma MC-11 adapter; Zeiss 35mm Distagon F1.4; Sony 90mm F2.8 MacroFeedback
You need a tripod for sure, patience when taking the photos and patience when post processing them, because it is not easy to get a beautiful outcome.
