Behind The Lens

Location

I love animals and this baboon is a resident at the Tampa Lowry Park Zoo

Time

Early morning at the zoo.

Lighting

This photo was taken in natural directed light. The sun was coming into the baboon enclosure at an angle highlighting his head and eyes.

Equipment

I took this shot hand held with a canon 5 d mark 3 and a 100-400 mm lens.

Inspiration

I find zoo photography can be quite rewarding if you seek out unique and interesting creatures such as this guy.

Editing

The raw image was processed in Lightroom and then finishing touches like darkening the background and adjusting levels and contrast were completed in photoshop

In my camera bag

For zoo photography I pack my 5D, 100-400 lens with a 1.4 extender, a tripod, a flash , and of course extra cards and batteries.

Feedback

The best advice for shots like this is patience….watch, wait then snap.
