Location
This photo was taken at the polytechnic university in Lakeland Florida. It is an example of architectural genius.Time
This image was taken at sunset. We were photographing the building when it start to rain. We found shelter and waited out the rain. When the rain finally stopped the most beautiful sunset appeared and we set up our tripods and resumed photographing this amazing structure with this beautiful sky as a backdrop.Lighting
It was taken during the golden hour with a spectacular sunset exploding across the sky.Equipment
It was taken with a Nikon 5100 with a 18-70 lens. My camera was on a tripod and I used a cable release to reduce camera shake because I was using a slow shutter speed.Inspiration
I am always looking for interesting structures and architecture. If you check out my albums you will see I have many images of the polytech university taken at different times of the day from different angles. I had researched the polytech and was so intrigued that we made a day trip of photographing it. If you ever visit Florida make a point of visiting. It’s a photographers dream.Editing
I did not do a lot of post processing to this image. I shot it in the raw and processed it in adobe photoshop cs6. I adjusted the levels, sharpened it slightly and boosted the contrast. In my camera bag
I primarily shoot with my canon 5d mark 3 and Various lens depending on my subject matter. Every photo outing is different.Feedback
When shooting architecture I usually mount my camera on a tripod. I prefer to manually focus and I often use a cable release. I set my aperture at f 16 or higher to get a large zone of focus. I might even use focus stacking to enhance the final image.I also make sure I shoot lots of different angles and use the lines of the structure to lead the viewer into the image and create depth.
