I took this photo in a beautiful small winery in Portugal.Time
It was about 13 PM, Just before our lunch, a nice way to choose our wine!Lighting
Light was coming from a row of small windows high in the left wall, creating a nice grazing light.Equipment
I didn't use any equipment other then my wonderful little Lumix DMC-TZ100, a very nice compact camera.Inspiration
We were visiting a wine cellar of a nice and small winery, where the wine was aging in huge oak barrels. I found one barrel with a bottle and a piece of paper on it with notes. I think it was a testing barrel but I couldn't ask it because this specific barrel was not for the public, I sneaked out of the group and took some photos. Nobody noticed. I wanted to capture the old craft of wine making with these wonderful textures in a nice composition.Editing
I did very little post-processing, I turned the photo into black and white, cropped it and adjusted the tones a bit in Lightroom, that's all.In my camera bag
I like to take spontaneous and natural photos so I do not have a bag with equipment.Feedback
When you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realize what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... In this case I wanted to capture the grazing light on the old wood in contrast with the shiny glass and the paper. The composition was beautiful the way it was. Once I open my laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I always crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop and edit the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
