Black-tailed deer are a common sight throughout Monterey County, California, especially around the coastal grasslands of Asilomar and Pacific Grove bordering the Pacific Ocean. This buck and 3 of his buddies, who were all “in velvet”, were photographed munching on tender new leaves and grass bordering the local golf course. Unfortunately, due to constant exposure, they have little fear of humans.
