Location
This photograph was captured at Baker Lake in the Panorama Point campground in the state of Washington. I walked out of my camper and was astounded by the color, water and reflection.Time
It was very early in the morning. I had just awoken and was greeted by the low hanging clouds, stillness and quiet. It was one of the most peaceful and serene moments I have ever experienced.Lighting
The natural lighting defined this photograph. It influenced the mood, reflection and color. The gray day and low hanging clouds produced a low key and subdued element that was in contrast to the rest of the image.Equipment
My camera is a Nikon D5000. I didn't use a tripod because I didn't want to take a chance on missing the moment. I had my 300mm lens and did not use a flash.Inspiration
The sheer beauty just took my breath away. I was drawn to the amazing scenery, color and peaceful setting. The best part was that it was a complete surprise, the moment simply presented itself. We stayed at this campground for an entire week and never experienced that same unique combination of weather, color and reflection.Editing
Minimal fine tuning adjustments were made.In my camera bag
I always have the basics, an extra battery, Sandisk, cleaning solution, manual, extra lens caps and tripod. My Tamron 16-300mm is my go to lens and also my dependable Nikon 18-55mm lens. I take my cell phone as a backup camera.Feedback
Once you have found your desired subject, determine the best lighting and angle to create and capture your best shot. I try and take multiple shots of the same subject, using different points of view to make it interesting. I like to take photographs in all types of weather and focus on framing the image I am trying to capture.
