_DSC0958 - Playing Peek a Boo after a bath - Just pulled the towel off of his face and he struck this unforgettable pose. Technically speaking, perhaps not the best photo... but capturing the moment, expression, feeling and timing is the real pro moment for me. These are the moments to treasure and remember. Not everything about photography has to be picture perfect. This is our grandson, Jesse James.

This photograph was taken of my grandson Jesse laying on the couch after he got out of the bath. We were playing peek-a-boo and I captured this remarkable expression right as the towel was lifted off of his face. This photo has touched so many people and indeed has made them smile. What more can you hope for?Time
Early morning capture.Lighting
A combination of natural and indoor light gave this photograph a softness with just the right amount of shadows.Equipment
This photograph was taken with my Nikon D5000 camera, using my Nikon 300mm lens. I did not use a tripod, this was a spur of the moment capture.Inspiration
A great subject. Jesse was full of laughter and giggles. This is one of my favorite and most awarded photographs. I had to name it, "I know a way to make you smile". The best part is having captured this precious memory and have the ability to share it with others and see the joy it brings them.Editing
The photograph was originally shot in color and I thought it had more character as a black and white image. In my camera bag
My Nikon D5000 finally wore out, so now I pack my Nikon D5600 camera and what I consider to be essentials. I always keep an extra battery, Sandisk photo card, cleaning solution, lens covers and a rain duck cover. I recently switched to a Nikon ED 28-300mm lens and use it as my "go to" lens. My iPhone 13 is always on board as a backup.Feedback
Don't wait for the perfect shot. Be ready for action, especially when trying to capture children or animals. Take multiple shots from various levels and angles. I like to set up by taking a few shots to determine the right setting for lighting to achieve the best results.
