Location
This photo was taken at Baker Lake in Washington. The view is from our campsite looking across the lake at this pristine setting.Time
This was an early morning capture. The clouds hung low and the it was absolutely still and quiet. A truly peaceful and serene moment.Lighting
There isn't anything better than natural light. The reflection made the color pop from the water and the gray day and clouds kept a low key, subdued background. The low light gave this photograph a wonderful feel and mood.Equipment
My camera is a Nikon D5000. I didn't use a tripod because I didn't want to take a chance on missing the moment and color. I used a Nikon 300mm lens, no flash.Inspiration
The sheer beauty of the moment took my breath away. It is one of those times that the light, color and subject called to me in a very peaceful, yet powerful way.Editing
The post-processing was minimal fine tuning. In my camera bag
I always keep the essentials, an extra battery, Sandisk, cleaning solution, extra lens covers and a rain duck to protect my camera. My Tamron 16- 300mm is my go to lens and also my dependable Nikon 18-55mm.Feedback
Locate your desired subject and determine where the sunrise/sunset will be to create the best light given the time of day. Multiple shots of the same subject matter are important to take as the light and color can change quickly. A tripod is beneficial. I find that taking photographs in all types of weather gives you the most interesting and diverse photographs.
