Behind The Lens

Location

At the Tre cime di Lavaredo, The Three Peaks of Lavaredo (Italy), called also Drei Zinnen, in the Dolomites mountains.

Time

It was on 24th July 2015 about midnight at the moonset.

Lighting

I didn't used any light, the foreground was lightened by the MOONSET so I could use 1600iso for the foreground.

Equipment

Sony a7II with samyang 14 2.8, on tripod. Foreground shooted at 1600iso f4 30", the sky at 3200 30" f2.8. 12 shots for the panoramic.

Inspiration

I always wished to be able to take a night panoramic in the Dolomites, these beautiful mountains of Italy, so I was lucky to have the right weather that night.

Editing

I stitched the shots with a panoramic software, then I post processed with photoshop to process the milky way and the details of foreground.

In my camera bag

Sony a7RII Sony a7II samyang 14 Sony 16-35 Sony 70-200 Sony 55 1.8 Sony 24-70 panoramic head bushman gobi

Feedback

Choose a good point for the composition, and take many shots, a lot, all of them at the same exposure. It's important the overlap you choose for every shot, usually from 40 to 70%.
