Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken at the Great Sand Dunes National Monument in ColoradoTime
This was shot just before noon on a chilly winter dayLighting
The sun was nearly overhead on what turned out to be a mostly sunny dayEquipment
This was taken with a Canon EOS 70D and Tamron 18-400mm lens (after nearly killing the lens when I fell on ice earlier that morning)Inspiration
This is one of my favorite parks, I always try and stop if I'm traveling through the areaEditing

I normally carry a Canon 80D (I finally wore out the shutter in my trusty 70D) with a Sigma 18/300mm mounted, and a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses, ranging from a 8mm diagonal fisheye to a Sigma 200-500mm telephoto depending on what I'll be shooting. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling, so I often don't plan shots beforehand - I'm a pretty impromptu/opportunistic photographer. I've found I spend the most time with various prime lenses and the 18-300mm Sigma though, the Sigma's range lets you capture almost anything on the fly and reduces the need for lens changes out in the openFeedback
Don't be afraid to re-visit areas you've shot in the past, there's always something new to discover
