Location
I took this photo whilst on holiday, at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on the Gold Coast, Qld, Australia.Time
It was a wild bird show at the sanctuary, and thus I was surrounded by people and various birds flying all around. I was madly snapping at anything and everything, and it wasn't until later, whilst going through my photos, that I came across this shot.Lighting
It was overcast and raining, so I needed to be careful with which way the camera was pointing. I was lucky with this photo, that the rain was going across us at this point.Equipment
My Canon 650D and my 18-135mm lensInspiration
I knew even before I started, that I wanted something different and unique. I knew that timing would be everything, and although there was a a large number of different birds at that moment, I knew that owls have a very curious personality, and thus kept focus on this little guy.Editing
I only slightly adjusted the colour a bit. I liked the way the photo looked and didnt want to change its feel.In my camera bag
I have limited equipment, so usually carry my whole collection. But I always start my day with my 18-135mm attached as it was my first lens I owned and i have many fond memories with it.Feedback
To me, timing and angle is everything. Having some patience and waiting for the right moment can pay off with rich rewards, but sometimes rapid shooting can prove to be just as rewarding, like this photo was for me.
