Stunning birds one of my favs! The name Grey crowned crane has always offended me. Choosing grey as the identifying colour is a bit soulless. Golden Crowned Crane would have been more suitable and it is called that in some stock photo collections.

Location
This photo was taken in Amboseli, Kenya. I have followed the cranes to many parts of the world, Germany, Spain, New Mexico, Kenya, Bhutan, Cambodia. I took this photo, when I saw the crowned cranes for the first time. All cranes are beautiful, but some are even more beautiful.Time
I think, we saw the cranes in the early afternoon on a overcast dayLighting

I used a Nikon 800 with a Nikon 600mm lens on a beanbagInspiration
I am fascinated by cranes. Every year I look forward to the fall migration in the Europe. The birds of happiness, long life and good luck in some cultures. I spent some of my happiest days watching and following the cranes. I love Kenya and Bhutan in particular. Hearing their trumpeting and sometimes being able to see them, ist just wonderful.Editing
I do not do much processing. In my camera bag
I always have a Nikon camera in my bag, most of the time a Nikon D5. I have several different lenses. For wildlife I love the 600 mm lens. In the summer when I look for dragonflies, I use a macro lens.Feedback
Photography is about light and love. If you love something or somebody the pictures will turn out well. To be out in nature and enjoy its beauty motivates me to document it. Sometimes it works out.
