Location
I took this photo in the parking lot near my house.Time
I took this photo around 1 AM.Lighting
It was pitch dark with no ambient lighting, so I had to provide all lighting sources.Equipment
As I was short a macro lens, I used about 3" of extenders on my 55-250 zoom lens. The large amount of extenders required a lot of light, and perfect stability. For the lighting I used my camera's flash and two dive lights. To achieve stability for the shot, I used a mini-tripod, and was able to put my lens about 2" from the gecko.Inspiration
I took this photo because I love reptiles, and as this was the first Kuroiwa's Ground Gecko I'd ever seen, I was very excited to get to photograph this endangered species.Editing

My Canon 40d, my 50-250mm, as well as a couple more (recently an EF-S 24mm has been pretty regular), multiple extra memory cards and batteries, my 20d backup. a cleaning kit, and a mini-tripod.Feedback
For most geckos, if you are very calm and move slowly, they can be coaxed into staying very still, which is important for this kind of shot. Stabilization is also very important for night macro shots, so I recommend a tripod.
