Ambient lighting from the hotel's porch lights.Equipment
Canon 40D, Canon EF-S 24mm lens.Inspiration
I love reptiles, and when the 10" Tokay geckos started crawling all over our hotel walls, I knew I had to get some good photos. The lizard calmed down a lot once it had the moth in its mouth and it let me get very close to get the shot.Editing
No post processing. In my camera bag
I no longer have the 40D, but I have upgraded. I usually have my Canon 7D Mk II, with a Tamron 16-300mm.Feedback
Calm the animal down as much as possible, and find native food for it if you can. Wait for it to get part way done eating, then approach it slowly to avoid startling it. Avoid a flash if possible. And always be respectful of the animal and avoid injuring it.
