Location
This was taken at Caddo Lake State Park in Texas. The tree is in an old 1800's paddle-wheel turn-around pond on the river.Time
I shot this about 45 minutes to an hour before sunset. The water was very still so it made for a great reflection.Lighting
The unprocessed shot is a bit lighter than what shows here, I felt darkening it up a bit added to the mood of the shotEquipment
I shot this with a Canon 70D and a Tamron 16-300mm lens. I was just exploring the park on a bicycle, I didn't have much equipment with me. I like the Tamron for it's versatility.Inspiration
I'd been wanting to shoot Caddo Lake for a while, it's a pretty park with lots of cyprus trees and the occasional gator. That tree just stood out all by itself in the middle of the pond.Editing
This is an HDR shot comprised of 3 bracketed shots. About all I did from there was enhance the colors a bit in Lightroom. In my camera bag
My bag changes depending on what I'm planning to shoot. I usually have a 70D with the Tamron 16-300 with me for everyday shooting. I also just purchased a used 5D Mark III, I'll carry whatever fits the subject for it.Feedback
This was a very opportunistic shot, so I don't have a lot of advice. Since I didn't have a tripod I rested the camera on a railing to steady it a bit.
