A canyon system hidden deep within the Canadian Rockies, is perhaps the most fairytale like place I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. I hiked for perhaps 2 hours where no path has ever existed to stumble upon a magical opening of the canyon to reveal a small waterfall joining its rushing counterpart. After sitting a marvelling at its sheer beauty, I scrambled back up the canyon wall to compose this shot.

When I first saw the photo I though it was part of Athabasca Falls in Jasper and had to come and have a look at the description. While not Athabasca Falls it is in Jasper one of the most beautiful places on earth. You have captured it

Location
This photo was taken in what has become one of my favorite locations in the Rockey Mountains. A small canyon system far off the beaten path along the ice fields parkway in Alberta Canada. The hike to this location is virtually unknown and beautiful in the extreme.Time
This shot was taken as late in the day as I could manage. (Around 4:00 PM) The remote location dictated how long I could stay as the hike and the drive back took well over five hours.Lighting
The overcast sky was perfect for capturing the unique depth of field this canyon system offered.Equipment
I was carrying my canon 6D at the time. I had previously attempted to bring my tripod, but I proved to cumbersome to haul with me down the canyon.Inspiration
The entire atmosphere of Mistaya is one of fairie-like stillness. But always on the edge of awareness is the ever present hulks of the mountains. I attempted to gain as much field of view as possible to not just capture the mood, but also the setting I found myself in.Editing
In this case. Absolutely! I found the dynamic range beautiful in this image. I really had a lot of fun stroking out the image I saw.In my camera bag
It completely depends on what shoot I am on! For portraits I typically carry a few fixed lenses, speed lights, (canon 480, 520) My 6D full frame, and my tripod. For remote lanscapes, I usually just carry the bare minimum. My 6D and a wide angle lens is all I need.Feedback
