Hi there. Nice image! I'm looking for exactly that kind of hat. Do you know where I can get one?

Location
This shot was not as planned as most of my photo shoot are. I was in fact out with my family on an outing to a historic fort, of course I brought my camera, and thankfully I was ready for this moment.Time
This was taken at the few moments before golden hour. I had been at this even since early that morning but this shot was worth the wait.Lighting
To be honest, the lighting that day was awful. I had to reposition myself probably 5 times to dodge lens flares, shadows on the subject, and other potential image defects.Equipment
This photo was taken on my back up camera (canon t3i) a sigma 17-70mm lens, and a tripod built in the 60.Inspiration
I am fascinated by family interaction, my own family is an object of inspiration to me and connection between this father and son was electric.Editing
I usually avoid post processing unless it is for a particular effect, but this shot was edited afterward with basic RAW effects. (Highlights, Shadows, etc.)In my camera bag
I usually carry a Canon 6D with a few L series lenses, (my favourite being 17-100mm) and my massive old tripod in the trunk. (It weighs probably 25 lbs, but it is sturdier than anything I have used.Feedback
Be open to change your focus often and quickly. Master the "art of seeing" where you are so familiar with your camera that you know how each shot will look before you ever pick your camera or lens. Once you find the shot in your mind, then make it a reality.
