This photo was taken at Victoria Beach in Laguna Beach, CATime
This photo was taken right at sunset.Lighting
I really wanted to use the sun in all of the yoga poses. We did several shots where the sun was in between hands or legs, but this was my absolute favorite. I love how the sun not only shines through the space between her legs and back, but it also illuminates the edges of her silhouette.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon Rebel and Tokina 12-24 wide angle lens. I did not use a tripod for this shot.Inspiration
In addition to being a photographer, I am a certified yoga instructor and had this idea in my head to do a photo shoot at sunset to create some creative images to frame at the studio I worked at. I had a total of 8 yoga students meet me down at the beach where we did some yoga poses to warm up, and then I just let my intuition take over and decide which person to use for each pose.Editing
I shoot in RAW, however I did very little post-processing to this photo. I increased the contrast and saturation slightly, and added some vignette. In my camera bag
I only own one camera, so I always have my canon rebel with me. Depending on where I’m going, I’ll include my Canon 50mm lens, my Tokina wide angle, and/or my Canon zoom lens. I always have about 8 SD cards, a trash bag, microfiber towel, and battery charger.Feedback
I checked the tides, sunset time, and weather. I got lucky with the beautiful sunset! In Southern CA, we have the best sunsets in winter!
