This photo was taken on the path between Chilchzimmersattel and Belchenflue, in SwitzerlandTime
It was taken at 0951, while I was one my way home from a night on Belchenflue trying the shot the stars and sunrise. As you can probably tell from the mist in the image the stars weren't out, but the mist in the forest on the walk home more than made up for it.Lighting
Pure natural light diffused through the mist.Equipment
I used a Sony A7 mk2 a 16-35mm f/4 and a tripod.Inspiration
The light, the mist the moment and this tree. There is something special about this tree. It's form is different to any from any other tree around. There are branches coming out at angles that don't feel natural to the trees growth, some parts are covered in moss and you can't see in from perspective, but there is what appears to be another tree growing out of it near the top. It feels somehow older than the rest of the forest. And then there is the fact that one reason or another it's in the middle of the path.Editing
The light diffused through the mist/clouds in the sky, was very bright and as I din't have filters with me on that day, I dampened down the highlights, and brought details out of the shadows. In my camera bag
This changes so often, but I generally like to have a wide angle, a long zoom, a tripod and a set 100mm filters. At the moment I tend to carry either a 18mm f/2.8 or a 16-35 f/4 and a 100-400mm with a x2 tele-convertor.Feedback
The best advice that can be given is simply, get outside. If you're not there you won't get the image, it doesn't matter where there is. Weather can change, there can be gaps in clouds that let just a moment of light through, or they may come later than expected. If nothing happens at all and you come home with no images, then you're still outside enjoying the day.
