Location
I took this photo close to Hohneck in the Vosges Mountains, located in eastern France close to the borders of Germany and Switzerland.Time
This image was taken just after sunrise. I'd been lying in camouflage, in the long grass and shrubs, on a mountain peak since before dawn. Slightly chilled and covered in dew, I was taking pictures of a herd of chamois, when I heard this one coming over a rise behind me. There was a short moment when it appeared to have realised that I was there, it stopped, looked directly at me and at that moment I managed to get this image.Lighting
The light for this image comes from the sunrise, with a touch of vignetting in post to focus the attention on the centre.Equipment
Apart from being dressed head to toe in camouflage, nothing else was used other than a camera, a lens and patience. In this case it was an Olympus E-M1 MK-2 with the m.zuiko 300mm f/4 IS pro.Inspiration
The inspiration for this particular photo lies more in the fascination of nature and the pre-dawn and sunrise light.Editing
The post processing of this image involved primarily cropping to convert it from landscape to portrait and vignetting to focus the view to the centre of the image. The remainder of the processing involved was the same as I would do to any other raw image, some variation on highlight, shadows and noise reduction. In my camera bag
My equipment varies depending on what I plan on doing. On this trip I had an Olympus E-M1 MK-2, m.zuiko 300mm f/4 IS pro, m.zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 pro and m.zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 pro. In addition I also had extra batteries, SD-cards and as always my trusted tripod, a Gitzo GT2542LOS.Feedback
A lot of patience and being prepared to get up and out early.
